Experiencing Side Effects
Hey Everyone,
I'm the first to post on here, so hopefully i get some responses. I've been experiencing a lot of the common side effects to Humira. These back pains and and joint pains I have, I could probably deal with, but I already have Crohn's, I don't need more to deal with. Other than that my general health is fine, or as fine as can be expected. I would just rather have a drug that doesn't give me any side effects. Any thoughts out there?

First off I would like to say that I am sorry you are not feeling well, but I would like to thank you for your post. I have been having awful, throbbing lower back pains on and off for the last two months, and though I told my doctor about it and she did a few tests, neither of us thought to link it to the Humira. Ugh. But is that the area your pain is? Lower back, or not?

unbelievable back pain! sometimes I can't get out of bed in the morning, thats how much it hurts. I've also had random headaches. I'm going in to see my doctor in the morning, I will let you know if she sees any signs that it could be related to Humira. Thanks for the reply, hope you are feeling well.

Hi,
I'm starting Humira soon for severe crohn's arthritis. Are you sure you aren't developing that problem? You can have arthritic symptoms even without being in a flareup or so i'm told. It scares me to think it may cause my joint pain to get worse. The doctor offered Remicaide but I didn't want the 2hr infusion every month. Have you tried Remicaide? Please keep me posted how you do on Humira re: joint pain. Maybe I'll opt for the Remicaide. The doc scared me about side effects of both. Wish there were other choices. Sometimes I think the side effects of steroids is the lesser of 2 evils. Hope you do better.
thanks,
pat

I'm taking Humira for Crohn's arthritis and it is starting to work for me. I had mod-severe pain in all the major joint, lower back and neck. Now its 75% better after 2 months. I know joint pain can be a side effect of Humira but it is also a complication of crohn's. It could be that is what you're experiencing. Have you tried Remicaid? Unfortunately I get my best relief with prednisone 12.5mg daily for my GI symptoms. Soon I'll be weaned of that and the Imuran to see if the humira is helping all my symptoms. I know crohn's is so devastating. My son got diagnosed at 16yr and now his son 8yo has it too. i wish you well and if I can answer any other questions just ask.
thanks,
pat

My son, 19, began humira 10 weeks ago. He had been on remicade 6 years, was taken off because of the concern about 6mp remicade and fatalities. Got ill on 6 mp alone. Anyway, Humira began helping on day 11. However, he is getting fevers on and off. WE did the TB test, chest xray, blood work. All fine. I have been trying to research this, the abbott= people are clueless. They love to respond that fever equals infection. I am thinking fever equals reaction to protein in humira. He was fine on remicade, which is why this reaction would seem unlikely, but who knows. He also has some minor back pain and aches but that is not really an issue for him. Has no other rash, or swelling that would indicate allergic reaction. Anyone out there experiencing FEVERS? tHANK YOU, WORRIED MOM

Are any of you guys in the Middle East ? I line and work in Dubai but am from England, I am on garden leave as my crohns has been the worst in the 15 years I have had it - I am starting humira soon but the cost over here is so prohibitive it's USD4,000.00 an injection............this is weekly.......obviously my medical won't cover as it's pre-existing.
thanks
